What's the best way to warm up?
What's the best way to warm up. Any particular activities that are good to stop your muscles from aching the day after exercise? Does it depend on what exercise you're doing or not?

Isn't jogging really bad for your ankles and knees if you don't warm up first?

Re: What's the best way to warm up?
The best way to warm up is to do some light cardio for 5 minutes and vary what you are doing. Rowinf, cycling cross trainer are all good for this as it raises your heart rate which warms the muscles and these exercises have minimal impact on joints etc.
Re: What's the best way to warm up?
The best way to warmup is just jogging for 5 minutes and touching the toe for 5 times. It will warm up the body greatly.

Re: What's the best way to warm up?
The best way to do warm up is jogging because in that our muscles get stretch. And also do some stretching.
Re: What's the best way to warm up?
It depends on what you are doing. In general, I spend about 15 minutes warming up with my clients. I get them doing some cardio to start with e.g. jump rope, cycling, rowing etc. I then get them foam rolling areas of the body like the hip flexors, hamstrings, glutes and piriformis, upper back, rotator cuff muscles. I then do dynamic stretches like leg swings, arm raises, prone trap raises. I then get them warming up body parts with exercises like glute bride raises, quadruped hip extensions, fire hydrants etc. I then get them to perform bigger movements like lunges, squats, press ups etc. By the end of the warm up they are sweating and ready to go. I use this same technique with myself and the athletes I train.

You can stretch your muscle a bit to avoid muscle spasms before dodging into heavy exercises or work-out.
Re: What's the best way to warm up?
I guess stretching is the best way to warm up your body because it helps to starch your mussels. It’s important to have warm-up exercises before you start heavy exercises.

DO NOT STRETCH until your muscles are warm. Stretching a warm muscle is fine but stretching a cold muscle can result in injury :-)

Jogging or brisk walking are the two best ways to get warm up before any exercise or game.

Re: What's the best way to warm up?
just light stuff...jumping jacks, jogging in place, then stretch after you're hr is up a little bit and your bloods flowing...then cool down and stretch after too...it could be you're just doing too much at first...work your way up and let your body get stronger and more flexible... a little soreness is good and usually isn't as noticeable once you start your next workout...
