Casein Protein Question Empty Casein Protein Question

I have been supplementing with Whey protein in both pre and post workout shakes and I have also made some protein flapjacks to take to work(should post the recipe). I have recnetly been reading that Casein Protein should be taken alongside whey in pre/post workout shakes and at night as it is more slowly absorbed.

Does anybody here use Casein alongside Whey and if so at what time of the day do you supplement with Casein?

Hi Dannycap,

I only use whey after training! Casein must be taken throughout the day because it is absorbed much slower which = more strength, recovery size ect.

For the rest of the day I use a Casein/whey blend specifically this product:

You can also manipulate the rate at which food is absorbed by adding a source of fibre (eg Broccoli) to meals/along side shakes (not in them!). I'll make a post on different protein shortly.

I tend to use casein especially just before I goto bed. I incorporate it into my last meal as Taz says it takes longer to digest and provides a longer release of protein into the body.

What product do you use mate?

I occasionally use the body fortress Milk and Egg just for a very slow releasing product although it tastes like crap!

Bodybuilders do not eat food for the taste but to provide their body with the correct nutrients at the correct time!!

Do you remember that guy in the gym Taz who was mixing tuna and diet coke as one of his meals - hardcore!!!

Although personally I find you can eat tasty nutritious food with a little preperation - see the recipes section of the website for more information and inspiration!

Casein protein is not a bad choice for good health but
